Up to June 26th, PLoS, a academic publisher in the United States, had retracted 93 articles on the journal "PLoS ONE" due to "potential manipulation of the publication process" and related issues, such as "peer review integrity" and "concerns about the authorship".
Anomalies can be observed on the XPS spectrum (Figure 8) of this article, but the cause is unknown.
Abnormal noise-free baseline was observed from the EDX spectrum in Figure 2(a) of this article
In the pink line of Figure 1, parts highlighted by same colour boxes look identical to each other, suggesting this line was manipulated.
The black and pink lines in the Figure 2 are identical to each other. The red and green lines in the Figure 2 are identical to each other. An erased sub-figure is also observed in Figure 2.
Parts (in purple boxes) of the lines in Figure 2, the noise patterns look too similar to each other than expected. And the XRD patterns presented in Figure 2 are not consistent to those presented in Figure 4.
Parts (but not the whole) of the lines in Figure 2(a) and 2(b), highlighted in boxes with same colour, look too similar to each other, suggesting these lines may be manipulated.
WANG Entong (王恩通) with Lyuliang University (吕梁学院) has published 4 article until recently, 2 of them have fishy authorship.
Repeated noise patterns are observed from the EDX spectrum in Figure 3.
